ITEZHI-TEZHI MP GRACES ITUMBI WARD INDEPENDENCE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Itezhi-Tezhi, 25th October 2025 — Itezhi-Tezhi Member of Parliament Hon. Twaambo Mutinta has called for unity and patriotism among residents as Zambia celebrates 61 years of independence.

Hon. Mutinta said this when he graced the Itumbi Ward Independence Football Tournament, an event that brought together teams from across the ward to commemorate the country’s independence through sport.

The tournament, held under the spirit of “One Zambia, One Nation”, drew an enthusiastic crowd of residents, community leaders, and youth groups who gathered to celebrate freedom and togetherness.

Speaking during the event, Itumbi Ward Councilor Boyd Musangu expressed gratitude to the participating teams and the community for their positive response to the tournament’s call.

“We are grateful to all the teams that took part in this year’s Independence tournament. Your participation reflects the unity, peace, and resilience that define our people in Itumbi Ward,” said Councilor Musangu.

In his remarks, Hon. Twaambo Mutinta commended the organizing committee for using sport as a unifying platform and encouraged residents to continue working together to develop the district.

“As we celebrate 61 years of independence, let us remember that our greatest strength lies in unity. We must uphold the values of hard work, peace, and togetherness as we build a better Itezhi-Tezhi and a better Zambia,” he said.

The day’s activities featured thrilling football matches among local teams, traditional dances, and community entertainment, all in celebration of Zambia’s journey of independence.

The tournament concluded with the presentation of awards to the winning teams and a renewed sense of community spirit among the people of Itumbi Ward.
