Police in Namwala have arrested two men in connection with a spate of stock thefts after uncovering evidence of slaughtered cattle buried in makeshift pits.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, Auxensio Daka, says the arrests followed a tip-off from members of the public that suspicious activities were taking place at a farm in Kawilihi area.
Mr. Daka says the police obtained a search warrant, swooped on the farm on September 4, 2025, and found Anold Kalapula (35) and Mulonda Mapanza (26), while two accomplices fled the scene.
He adds that a search led officers to several covered pits in two paddocks where they unearthed the remains of 26 slaughtered cattle, including bones, heads, rotten hides, and cow dung.
Mr. Daka says the duo has been arrested, while investigations to track down the remaining suspects are ongoing.
